Most people know the key to success in a long-term relationship is compatibility. But how is it accomplished? And in an age when the majority of marriages end in divorce, how can one beat the odds? Now, Dr. Neil Clark Warren has distilled his 30 years of research on over 5,000 successful marriages into a single amazing and enlightening guide. Using 29 key personality components, Warren shows how these character dimensions can be measured and compared before two people begin traveling down the road of commitment. With this essential information in hand, singles can immediately gauge whether a prospective mate is truly compatible, avoid the emotional pain of spending years with the wrong person, and be confident that the love they've found will last.

Dr. Neil Clark Warren is the mastermind behind eHarmony.com—an Internet matchmaking service that encourages readers to find "true love" rather than a slew of Saturday night dates. His basic shtick is that "broad-based compatibility" is the glue for making a partnership loving and lasting. Falling in Love offers 29 "dimensions of compatibility" to consider before committing to a romantic relationship. His formula is so, well, formulaic, it threatens to take all the mysticism and romance out of finding a soul mate. That’s fine with Warren, who believes that readers who screen partners for compatibility will fare much better than spirit-struck lovers who base commitments on profound immediate attraction.  Warren begins with weeding out bad characters. "If one of the partners in a relationship lies, cheats, or steals, that bad character will eventually undermine the relationship." Even if you’re not the victim of these behaviors, you will be, claims Warren. So run, don’t walk from the relationship. Seems like obvious common sense. Yet advice columnist are constantly answering letters from unhappily married men and women, complaining about these very forms of broken trust.  Warren also encourages readers to stop ignoring the early "red flags" of addictive personalities and psychological issues, such as chronic depression. Demand that the partner commit to professional help before you go any further with the relationship, he advises. Other compatibility issues include anger management, sexual passion, and family planning. While his advice is solid, it is conservative. For instance, he does not address homosexual love or allow homosexual partnering on his web site. Also, most of the discussion is geared toward traditional marriage as the final goal. --Gail Hudson

What can be more romantic than sending a handwritten love letter to your loved one, full of romantic words and genuine feelings you have for him? Love letters are one of the best ways to show your special loved ones how you feel for them and how much you love them.

A heartfelt love letter also makes the perfect gift for Valentine's Day, but you don't have to just limit yourself to that specific day. Every day is a great opportunity to make your loved one happy by sharing your deepest feelings with him/her.

Love Letter Saying Sorry

The great thing about love letters is that you don't have to be a poet or a skilled "writer" to be able to write them. Everyone - and I really mean "everyone" - can do it.

Because they are just about putting your romantic feelings into words genuinely - even in very simple words. This openness is what makes love letters special.

To write a more romantic and heart warming letter, here are some questions that will give you good ideas to write about:

Idea #1:

What was the first time you felt you were in love with him? Did anything special happen that made you realize your love?

You can describe in clear details how it happened and how you felt and it will mean the world to your loved one. I promise. :-)

Idea #2:

What is the #1 thing he has that makes you feel so much in love with him whenever you think about it? It could be about looks or about personality.

For example you may say "the way his face shines when he smiles", or "the way his eyes always bring peace and love to me when I look into them."

Idea #3:

What positive changes have you made since he has entered your life? What valuable lessons have you learned from him?

For example it could be that before you met him, you were pretty shy and didn't fully believe in yourself and your unique abilities, but he helped you love yourself more and be proud of who you are.

When your loved one reads this, she will practically feel on clouds because he/she sees what a big difference he had made in your life.

Idea #4:

It's also a good idea to include a heartfelt romantic love poem at the end or the beginning of your letter. Sometimes nothing can show how we feel better and deeper than a good poem.

Idea #5:

And as the last tip: Don't forget to say "I Love You" at the end of your letter. This simple yet effective sentence will really seal the deal in your loved one's mind.

Wish you a wonderful life full of love,

What Is Love?

What is LoveHuman beings are the most intelligent of all the animals on earth. Perhaps that is why man is sometimes referred to as the ‘supreme animal’. Mythology has it that when Eve tasted the forbidden fruit (read ‘the divine apple’) and asked Adam to eat the same fruit, both fell in ‘love’ with each other. This angered the God and they (Adam and Eve) were kicked out from the house of God and sent to earth. Someone has rightly said "when the power of love overcomes the love for power, the world will know peace".

In this world full of hatred and evil, if there is something that is keeping us happy, then it is none other than ‘love’. It is important to answer the question "what is love". The English dictionary defines the verb love as ‘to possess powerful feelings of affection for a friend, relative or any other person’. Sexual attraction is also a form of love. Love is not a singular feeling; it is the essence of different mental states, feelings and emotions.

Emotions (read ‘human emotions’) are so complex that even scientists have not been able to decode their exact nature. Even the cycle of emotions is a little difficult to be explained. Nevertheless, the term ‘emotions’ is so vivid in nature that the English Dictionary has at least a few hundred adjectives to cover different colors of emotions.  It is almost impossible to define the term ‘love’. However, it is very much possible to interpret its meaning you take a closer look at human behavior.

Let us throw light on the different shades of love and human emotion. Have you ever wondered how many times you utter the words ‘I love!’ every single day? A child would demand a toy from his mother by either crying (if he is an infant) or by showing his strong will to have that toy. Even when a child does not know how to speak, he can express his feelings very well. Love is the feeling which leads to a lifelong relationship between a man and a woman. Infidelity is not that uncommon a word today.

Love is perhaps the answer to infidelity. The desire to love and to be loved is the most intense of all desires. In general, the term ‘love’ is often believed to be synonymous to ‘physical contact’ or ‘sexual contact’. This belief is erroneous. Had it been so, there would have been no love between an old man and his old wife. I do not say that sexual acts are something unethical. In fact, sex is also an important aspect of love. The four letter word (read love) is the gist of all religions.

There are many who do not understand the difference between love and lust. When a young man sees a young and attractive woman, he thinks he is in love with her. However, the truth is that for love to develop, one needs to spend time with another person. Sexual attraction does not necessarily give birth to love. If love is not sexual attraction, then what is love? In terms of psychology, love can be considered to be a cognitive phenomenon. Love has three aspects namely commitment, intimacy and passion.

Each of these three aspects is crucial for the success of any relationship. The meaning of love changes with age too. For example, the romantic affair between a 16 year old girl and 17 year old boy is completely different in comparison to the relationship between a couple in their mid thirties. Is love a cultural phenomenon? Medical Science has proved that hormones and pheromones influence the brains of human beings when they think of love and/or sex. What are the different types of love? It would be foolish to categorize love as ‘young love’ and ‘old love’.

In general, love can be spiritual and sexual. Sexual acts reflect the desire of human beings to attain physical (as well as mental) pleasure. Perhaps this is the reason why the term ‘making love’ is used in English. There have been many psychologists who have written a lot about various types of love. Speaking of ‘young love’, a couple can keep the flame of love and passion alive forever. True love is hard to find. Lucky are those who have found true love. Next time you think of love, ask yourself ‘what is love’.

5 Keys to a Great Relationship

Great RelationshipA great relationship is never easy. It can sometime feel a little bit daunting to hold on to the things that will make it work. It's sometimes tough to know what the right thing is, that's will keep the relationship moving up.

Check out these 5 keys to building a great relationship

1. Finding the right person!

It's a little strange, but so often we park in the wrong place. Staying to long where we know things aren't a good fit. None of us is looking for perfection but staying on top of what you want is important.

At the outset it's important to find someone you have a good time with, someone that shares your hopes and dreams and most importantly has fun in the ways you like to have fun. Isn't that really what its all about? Even in the worst of times, you should still be able to smile and feel great with you're closest friend?

It's ok to disagree, but finding someone that makes that easy is key.

2. Being able to Forgive

This is quite possibly the most important.  To have a relationship that will really stand the test you have to have a way to maintain it. People will always make mistakes, and there must be a place to come to resolve those. Having a partner and a spirit in yourself that can truly forgive these mistakes is the best way to keep honesty in the relationship.

Its when the communication breaks down and people are unwilling to forgive that fear and anger sets in and we start looking to place our intimacies elsewhere.

It may be a sacrifice, but next time you see an opportunity to be angry, try forgiving rather than building on the anger. It's within us all to make mistakes, and it everyone's job to be able to overcome them.

3. Being Flexible

Being in a great relationship, means knowing you are sharing your lives and that means sometime your partner's needs will come before your own.

It can't be a battle. It's not fair or healthy to keep track of who's done more for whom. Love at its core is caring more for that other person's well being than your own.

The hope is that when two people can do this in balance the relationship is the true beneficiary. After all if you're having fun with your partner, doesn't that matter most?

4. Communicating

There are many relationships that don't survive because people haven't learned to really communicate. This is the most common way to break down.

The first part of communication is usually not what people expect. Before even looking outward, look inward! Take a moment before you speak and really try and understand what ii is you want the other person to know.

Put everything on the line, you're mistakes, and fears, as a mantra I think its fair to say that you're unabridged honesty should do no harm. The other conditions of a good relationship, like forgiveness and trust will deal with the problems once there out there but no one can deal with them until they have been said.

Make time for sharing with your partner each day. Don't let weeks go by where nothing is said, just have no  motive, simply that you want to communicate honestly.

5. Planning your time.

The best part of being in healthy relationship is making plans for your time both today and on down the road.

There's so much innocent fun flirtation in making little plans for dates or for the weekend. Don't hide from it. Enjoy it!

It's better still to make some plans for the summer or further off. Talking about these dreams can be a great way to get to better know your partner, and will make today's work more bearable.

The truth is; there are things you can do to make your relationship better. It will always be a work in progress towards not only your partners health, but your own.

You've stepped off on this adventure of life together, bounding over problems and joys with hands held tightly hoping you make it to the other side intact. These five things will help you get there.
