Examples on Body Language

One of the important part of a communication process is body language. Usually, it can influence a negative or positive reaction to the person you are talking with.

Actions made by your lips, eyes and eyebrows, arms or any other part of your body creates the body language perceived by others unknowingly to the speaker.

When you speak or actually even when not speaking, it is quite beneficial to know your body actions so that you do not get a negative impression or unwanted reaction from others without knowing it. Below are examples on how body language speaks.

Eyes And Eyebrows:

'A window to our soul' quite deep and cryptic as a quoted phrase for the eyes and eyebrows but it is true to some extent to either confirm or say something else from what is spoken about. Sometimes, the listener doubts or misunderstood what one is saying just looking at your eyes and eyebrows.

The movements and position of these body parts are usually the first to be noticed upon face to face communication.

A particular example and a popular one at that is the impression you show if you are apprehensive or in a burdened mood is when your eyebrows meet in the middle as with frowning. One may think you?re faking it and actually mad even if you speak slowly and with a soft voice.

Lips:

The mouth is usually another part of your body which can speak about your mood.

With differences in positions and shapes particularly the lips and how they form, it is very common to have universal concepts regarding how one feel during a conversation just by noticing one's mouth. Here are some of those concepts:

When one is holding back waits for affirmation or action from the other conversant, the lower lips are usually retracted with the upper teeth almost biting it. Sometimes, this is common for those people who are holding back.

If it is the other way around where the upper lip and lower teeth almost biting it, the person seems to keep mixed reactions and is holding back as with a reaction to what is being said by the other.

Some significant implications of these small movements may create a reaction to either stop or continue the conversation process to the person seeing them.

Extremities:

For more profound or for those that create heavier impact, one can notice how the arms and legs create a larger notions of body language.

Those that show doubt, mistrust, impatience, or closed-mindedness usually cross their arms over their chest. By having one leg stepped away and angled while the body rest in the other leg, this can create or heightened an unfriendly gesture towards the other.

Body language can do you good if confirms what you are saying. One way to harness it I actually practice and internalize a reverse position where you are the one seeing those actions as you speak. You then can ask yourself, ?boy is that what I really mean?? and then be reminded that actions speak louder than words.  Next time, you will be more conscious on how your body acts while you speak or even when not.
