Noise. In a first date you want to get to know the person you are going out with and the best way to achieve that is by talking. The atmosphere will be spoiled if the place is noisy and a lot of people are talking at the same time, you would have to talk loud to hear each other.

Lighting. Going on a first date you want to have some lighting so you can see your date and notice their expressions and gestures. A dark place would not be ideal on a first date, as it will give an impression that something sleazy is about to happen.

Price. You may want to impress a date so you chose an expensive place intending to foot the bill, but it can have an opposite effect as your date may feel ill at ease in such a setting. There's a certain amount of tension in first dates. It would not help to have your date uncomfortable or feeling tense. Finally, don't go to a too trendy place. You will not have much opportunity to know each other better in places like these.

The best place for a first date would be some small cafe. They are not only quiet and homely, but also inexpensive and mostly will allow you to stay for an extended period of time.
