Tricky; the first word that comes to mind when you try to read tell-tale signs of whether she is interested in you or his small talk is a means to drive a wedge between the gates. Though are many theories that go around telling you how to read signs of flirting, you cannot take the guidebook very seriously. The guidebook will sure make you watch out for the signs, but to be sure you have to use your grey-matter, too.

Though most signs of cupid’s arrows are common to both the genders, there are some which are special to each one of them.

Common Signs:

If your name appears frequently in his/her conversation, you know cupid is working overtime.

If the teeth are flashing a lot or lips are drawn in a happy line in your presence (Smiling!).

You haven’t counted what you like and what you don’t like, but the cupid-stricken is out to take an inventory of your interests.

Trying to very close? Read the sign. Sure sign of flirting.

Mostly leans towards you while sitting or standing? She/he is out to get you!

Okay.  So how do women differ from men in their flirting gestures? Women are more subtle when sending out signals. If your antenna is powerful and your grey cells work overtime in matters of the heart, you will catch these in a jiffy! Else, come back and read this.

By far the most interesting sign of flirting is when someone tries to touch your knees or arms. In most cases, it might seem unintended or not purposeful; however, this one sign can be construed as one of the sure signs. But beware! Watch out for a couple of more signs before actually responding to it.

Signals That A Guy Likes You:

The testosterone gesture (a new invention!):  If he flexes and swaggers his muscles, lo and behold! The very basic sign that a man could give; this is a show of masculinity. Most in the animal kingdom do it, may it be peacock spreading his plume or the little bird engaging in dance to attract his partner, only they don’t flex muscles, but do show their assets off by making a display of it.

First he tries to catch your eyes.  Then holds your glance then looks away only to come back again.  He sure wants to know you better and is sending out clues that he likes you.  He may not hold your eyes, but the look going away and coming back speaks volumes of a thundering heart wanting to know you better and what better ways to tell a guy likes you.

The normally thunderous man suddenly lowers his voice, wants to know your likes and dislikes, engages you in long talks about right and wrong, is overly protective of your future – your education and career have a greater meaning for him.

He is fondling a cigarette or chain.  Hmm… he wants to be more intimate.  Run, if you fear getting drowned in his masculinity. These are certain clues that he likes you.

He touches you gently or softly to drive home that he is friendly and this one of the surer ways to tell a guy likes you.

If his constantly goes to his hair, patting it into place, he wants to look good for you. The same goes if he smoothens his dress.

How To Tell If A Girl Likes You:

Her glances are trained on you when you are not watching her. Each time you see her, she moves her eyes away it gives you a feeling she had been watching you all the while.

If the smile is genuine with a sparkle of the teeth and she has a glint in her eye, you know her smile is not forced.  She is enjoying your happiness.  This is the best way you are on the way!

For her all roads lead to Rome through you.  She is going out of the way to make sure you notice her.  She slightly raises her voice when you are crossing the group she is in or makes slight adjustments to her hair, skirt etc when you are glancing her way.

She takes off her shoes or lets her shoe hang off the toes; takes her ear ring off, these are suggestive of "undressing." She wants to be intimate. However, be careful to look for other signs, too.

She initiates the talk. She could start from anywhere but this is a sure sign she is interested in you.  You tell her your name and she repeats it for you.  She pulls your ear close to hers to tell you a secret.  She is giving a whiff of her perfume, inviting a response from you.

Your jokes may not bring the whole house down with laughter but your jokes, sure has her holding her ribs.  If she responds with exclamations for all your achievements, small or big, the green signal is on.

Does she ask you about movies, dance, or dinner better book the tickets for the show, she is going to ask you out on date soon enough!

If she touches you anywhere, overtly or covertly, more than a few times during the evening, you are sure she wants to know you better…go ahead, your evening is set.

A word of caution, though, you can be certain that these obvious signs of flirting are only indicative.  In the case of women, you will do well not to jump to conclusions looking at one or two signs.  It is very easy to misinterpret friendly gestures and signs of flirting, especially in the case of women.

Only follow your heart, if you are sure you have read the signs properly. You could end up at the wrong end of the stick for sexual harassment if you misread the signs.

Girls you might feel men are always meant to run after you.  There are those of the male species who like girls running after them. Reading a man is much easier than reading woman.  However men like their women to be coy, shy, and not very overt in showing her interest.  You have to tread a very safe line.
